John R. Johnsen

Udstillede første gang i Galleri 13 i København i 1966. International debut i Les Halles i Paris med dansefotoudstillingen Maurice Béjart i 1969. Fik derefter mulighed for at skabe særudstillingerne Romeo och Julia på Kungliga Operan i Stockholm i 1970 og Messe pour le temps présent på Deutsche Oper i Vestberlin i 1971.

Har skabt udstillingerne Corps Movement Danse, Pictures in Movement – a Danish Touch of Dancing og The Tracing of Movement, der har været præsenteret på internationale udstillingssteder fra Centre Pompidou i Paris til Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts i Washington D.C.

Fast fotograf for Den Kongelige Ballet i perioden 1970-1995 under balletmestrene Flemming Flindt, Henning Kronstam, Frank Andersen og Peter Schaufuss. I 2003 overgik hans dansefotosamling til Det Kongelige Bibliotek. I 2012 udkom denne bog – samtidig med at et retrospektivt udvalg af hans billeder blev præsenteret på en udstilling i Det Nationale Fotomuseum på Det Kongelige Bibliotek.

Exhibited for the first time in 1966 at Copenhagen’s Galleri 13. International debut in 1969 at Les Halles, Paris, with the photo exhibition Maurice Béjart. Soon afterwards, Johnsen created the special exhibitions Romeo och Julia at Stockholm’s Royal Opera (1970) and Messe pour le temps présent at the Deutsche Oper in West Berlin (1971).

Created the exhibitions Corps Movement Dance: Pictures in Movement – A Danish Touch of Dancing and The Tracing of Movement, presented at international venues from the Centre Pompidou in Paris to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C.

House photographer of the Royal Danish Ballet 1970-1995 under artistic directors Flemming Flindt, Henning Kronstam, Frank Andersen and Peter Schauffuss. In 2003, Johnsen’s collection of dance photos was acquired by the Royal Library, National Library of Denmark. In 2012, the present book appeared – simultaneously with a retrospective exhibition of Johnsen’s work at the Royal Library’s National Museum of Photography, Copenhagen.
